Mrs. Bertoneís Newsletter
March 2016

Language Arts
Now that the children are comfortable as writers, the “basic routines” of writerís workshop have been reshaped. Now, we will be voicing our opinions while working on persuasive writing and also, letters of persuasion. So, donít be shocked if one is addressed to you! From there we will move through descriptive writing and explore a variety of poems while comparing differences and similarities. Eventually, we will write some of our own!

Social Studies
This month and into April we will continue to focus on folktales from around the world and begin our journey through Australia exploring books by the author, Mem Fox and reading a variety of other Australian folktales and porquois (“why” in French and in other words, origin stories). Additionally, we will expand upon what we learn through the Australian folktales and begin to research and learn about the animals and culture of Australia. This will continue into April due to the half days and week long break.
